Most of us like a glass of wine with a nice meal. A perfectly matched glass of white wine with a grilled fish meal, or a nice bottle of red wine to go along with a rich tomato dish often makes a delicious meal that much more enjoyable. There are plenty of calories in wine though, and if you are on any sort of low calorie diet, not knowing how many calories in a glass of wine can cause you to go over your calorie count.

The wine calories listed on a per glass basis are for a 5 fl oz glass of wine (just under 150ml).

How Many Calories in a Bottle of Wine?

Calculating how many calories are in a bottle of red wine or white wine is quite easy; there are about five glasses of wine in a single bottle. If you know how many calories in a glass of wine, just multiply that amount by 5 to find out how many calories in a bottle of wine. Let’s say you wanted to know how many calories in a bottle of white wine such as Chardonnay: there are 95 calories in a glass of Chardonnay wine, and 95 X 5 = 475, so there are 475 calories in a bottle of wine, if the wine is Chardonnay.
Wine is a delicious drink that can really finish off a delicious meal. If you are on a low calorie or “calorie counting” diet, you may not have to miss out on wine altogether, but you will almost certainly have to limit your intake. Be aware of how many calories in wine, and factor that into your exercise schedule and overall nutritional plan. Like all good things however, wine is best enjoyed in moderation.
